Muskrat Lure
To begin... A good many trappers feel that muskrats do not respond very well to lure, and do not use lure for muskrats, preferring instead to use blind sets at den entrances or in runs, pocket sets, floats, or sets baited with such things as apples, carrots, or parsnips....... However, some trappers use straight anise oil, or fresh muskrat glands to lure the muskrat. As to muskrat lures you can make yourself... Here are some recipes you might try.....

Lure recipe 1
1 ounce spearmint oil
2 ounces peppermint oil

Lure recipe 2
1 ounce sweetflag oil
1 ounce muskrat glands
1/4 ounce glycerin

Lure recipe 3
1 ounce muskrat glands
2 ounces anise oil
1 ounce glycerin

Lure recipe 4
1/2 cup of honey
2 or 3 drops of anise oil...just enough to slightly smell when
mixed in. (This lure can also be used for beaver.)
Lure recipe 5
1 oz. muskrat glands
1 oz. sweetflag oil
5 to 6 oz. glycerin

Lure recipe 6
1/2 oz. beaver castor
1/2 oz. sweetflag oil
1/2 oz glycerin

Lure recipe 7
1/2 oz. spearmint oil
3/4 oz. peppermint oil
3/4 oz. glycerin
